A weekend bordering on the sublime.
Our Saturday Farmer's Market :: strawberries :: visit from Grandma :: seeing (nearly) everyone in town at the garden centers :: planting my container herb garden :: getting the hanging baskets up :: a jaunt to the river park :: flowers for my porch :: extra family movie night :: the girls deciding to do a little Plein Air painting :: helping Grandpa get the rest of the garden in :: adding a special flower garden just for the girls to plant (mammoth sunflowers, salvia, lupine, forget-me-not, black-eyed susan, snapdragons, columbine, bachelor buttons--all their own choices) :: reading together and separately :: taking a picnic dinner to Paul, working late in his office on a holiday (a final push to get his dissertation done in the next three-and-a-half weeks) :: playing in the fountain with friends on a near-empty college campus :: porch sitting :: moon watching :: caterpillar oberservation :: playing in the yard :: dressing up :: a little squabbling :: a lot of talking :: being a family in the most beautifully ordinary ways.
What more could I ask of a long holiday weekend?
It all sounds amazing.
